In a recent article, we know Kid Fun Yoga Mat. Here I will introduce kid yoga mats.
Who would have thought yoga could be for kids? Well, Abbie Davies did, for starters. “The generation that’s really getting into yoga right now is the yoga moms, and they’re beginning to understand that they should treat their kids how they treat themselves,” says Davies, who at 23 founded My First Yoga, a yoga studio for kids in Newton Centre, Massachusetts.
Teaching your child yoga can have benefits for both of you. Yoga provides relief from our busy, stressful lives and provides a timeout for mind and body. A regular yogic practice can help the whole family become more fit and flexible, with greater stamina and poise.
Children seem to pick up on the natural rhythm of yogic postures and movements with great ease. Marsha Wenig, a yoga instructor and author believes that…”doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.”

My 2 1/2 year old daughter would be jumping on top of me or crawling through my legs while I was doing yoga before. Now, there is an incentive to ‘have her own space’ and attempt the poses I am doing. I purchased this mat so that she would grow up appreciating the benefits of yoga by having a mat to call her own as well as for me to have a little peace while I do my own routine.
I think this mat is a good size and the quality seems adequate for now. She has not been on it very long so I can’t speak to it’s longterm durability yet or if the images on it will remain intact, but it looks like it will hold up to a toddler’s intermittent abuse. Overall, I like it and think it will be good for her when and if she wants to get more serious about joining me.
