Best answer:
Answer by StopTheZombies
A) Because the fighting style was founded in China.
B) Because Chinese superstars have had a hard time finding roles in Hollywood that doesn’t proliferate the stereotype
C) Because massive amounts of people watch Hollywood movies and just go with the idea because there’s no other image available.

Ok, I think the problem here is you found it hard to come up with a legitimate question.
Because I have NEVER met anyone who sat around talking about the Chinese, let alone if all of them know kung fu.
In many of the chinese films I watch, everybody knows kung fu. Probably most of the chinese movies that outsiders watch, contain a lot of kung fu. This is probably a main source of the stereotype.
It is an ancient Chinese tradition to learn kung fu , and it is no different than asking an American if they know how to play baseball/football. It is part of the culture so some people naturally assume some Chinese people know kung fu.
It’s funny because it reminds me of the time when someone told me that all asian people are born knowing how to use chop sticks. It’s illogical.
You mean you aren’t a ninja???
<— disappointed.
Kung fu was founded in China, All the movies made by Hollywood involving China just deal with Kung fu (Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan ect.) And ofcourse people assume that since 1 Chinese man knows Kung Fu ALL Chinese know Kung Fu. And considering the media they just encourage it. It pretty ignorent if you ask me..
kung fu is from china, many Asians take up martial arts, and all movies portray Asians doing martial art moves aka those kung fu moves.
It is a stereotype. The American people are very ignorant, and lack common sense. So when they see a couple of chinese people doing kung fu in movies, or tv shows, they think all chinese people do that. Some Americans don’t know the difference between the words some, and all. They also believe that what they see on tv, hear on the radio, and see in movies are facts. Once these people obtain common sense it will kill those stereotypes.
Too much Saturday afternoon Kung Fu Theater. I loved it as a child and always will! The 5 Deadly Venom’s, Lady Whirlwind, and the main man Bruce Lee.
