Ancient cultures had a different approach to men and older women. The elders of those cultures were considered repositories of experience and wisdom. Were valued and cared for.
By contrast the elderly in our present and our way of life is a time of profound changes that if not properly confronted, can lead to a crisis that damages definitely physical and mental health of people experiencing this phase.
The decline in social relevance, the violent disruption of interpersonal relationships, the burden of diseases or degenerative misnamed confront fear, loss, or the removal of identifiable objects (children, spouse), the frequent isolation, fear of death, it leads to people to deep states of disappointment, exhaustion and depression, leading often to poor health, and move an old age with all sorts of difficulties.
Many times a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet (diet irrational) lack of control in addictions, stress, namely the abuse the body in its physical, psychological and over a lifetime, are the cause of future conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, rheumatism, cholesterol, blood pressure problems, reduced lung capacity, discomfort or disease in the spine or bones, like arthritis or osteoarthritis, difficulty seeing or hearing, among others.
A person can safely reach and lucid elderly in excellent health, never too late to react. Every day we are born again with more experience and with more capacity, you just have to take “conscience.”
