There is a lab study that had two different groups of rats. One group was allowed to play all they wanted. They would pin each other and squeal, they would tumble and roughhouse. The other group of rats, every time they started to play they were interrupted, they weren’t allowed to play. After several months of one group allowed to play and one not allowed to play, a collar permeated with the scent of a cat was placed into each of the two group’s enclosures. All of the rats hid from the strong scent almost immediately with one key difference between the groups. After a while the group of rats that had been allowed to play started coming our of hiding and began looking around, started exploring. Was the cat there? What was up? The other group of rats that had never been allowed to play, they never came out of hiding. They stayed hidden and did not come out. In fact they would have died there if they weren’t made to come out.<br />
Play is something that seems to have no external purpose. If you ever see otters frisking or dolphins pirouetting or Japanese monkeys rolling a snowball down a hill, if you ever see dogs playing, you can tell there is nothing overt that is trying to be accomplished. Play has no rational purpose, which can be very good because a lot of times our purposes can be confused or muddled, a little bit messed up or even contrary to what we are seeking in life. Most animals will play, and what is interesting is the response of the husky to the polar bear. At first glance you have such an apparent imbalance of nature. You have a predator, not just any predator but one of the most dangerous powerful predators on earth coming towards you, and your response is ‘Let’s play!”

Yoga publication Yoga Journal, which has completed its16th year, is offering more than 100 classes taught by some 35 master teachers, including Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, David Swenson and Bo Forbes, in the Colorado Rockies for eight days, the Independent reported.<br />

What led you to painting and storytelling?<br />
I was a fine arts major in college, and ended up going to law school. I really started getting back into painting a couple years ago. I’m really interested in portraiture and documentary and narrative, and I love shows like This American Life and The Moth. I started meeting with people who did yoga and with yoga instructors. I’d interview them—take audio tape of interviews, and take a few pictures. Based on what they said about their practice, I created these yoga portraits that were supposed to reflect something deeper about them. It culminated in a show at first Friday in May. The paintings were lined up in a space with their edited interviews playing, like a yoga class. It was a pop-up venue called Power Station Lab, in Old city. </p>
<p>For you, what’s the connection between images and stories?<br />
When I started doing this, I thought it should come to life in a play. But I didn’t make the play out of the materials I recorded. Instead, I cast actors involved in yoga practice and each of them worked on, and then collaboratively we developed, their characters and stories. The interaction with these people made what is a very rich story, which is the script. </p>
<p>We started rehearsal without a script. We did exercises so people would become these characters. We did writing exercises, we shared interviews. We were able to pare it down to the most poignant and funny things that emerged. The collaborative process for me was almost as important as the end result. </p>
<p>What’s the connection between art and yoga?<br />
I’m a project artist. The project before that was a painting for the Haggadah. I like to work on a subject, and then on a project on that subject. Yoga seemed so natural because I have a lot of experience with it. It works well because you have the visual asanas, and there are a lot of interesting stories about what brings people to yoga. Out of that sprung something I had to do. I was compelled to do it. At the time I had a job, my kids—I made this project just because I had to do it. </p>

<p>    Our thigh bone (femur) is the one which connecting our pelvis and shin bones.  Femur is connected with the hip socket and this ball socket join help the thigh bone to move in six different ways or combination of it.  These motions are anatomically named as Flexion (thigh bone getting closer to the pelvic bone, Extension (thigh bone getting away from the pelvis- opposite to the flexion), Abduction (thigh bone going to the side), Adduction (thigh bone getting to the midline of the body), Lateral Rotation (rotating the thigh bone externally) and Medial Rotation (rotating the thigh bone internally). </p>
<p>Most of the times when we talking about the thigh rotation in yoga poses, we are talking about the thigh rotations in the thighs are by looking on the femur’s Greater Trochanter’s movement.  Whenever the Flexion, Abduction and Lateral Rotation happen, the Greater Trochanter moves externally.  Also, whenever the Extension, Adduction and Medial Rotation happen, the Greater Trochanter moves internally.<br />
