First of all you should make sure that you practice the right style of yoga and practice it regularly. Then you need to make yoga a part of your lifestyle.

1. Style of yoga
There are various styles of yoga and some are more effective for weight loss than others. Static styles of yoga where poses can help to make your body stronger for a long time, such as Iyengar yoga will be of a minimal weight loss value. And Ashtanga yoga will make your lungs and heart working, the blood pumping and in such a way you will burn more calories.

2. Frequency of practice
If you are going to lose weight and get other benefits of yoga practices, then it will not be enough to attend yoga classes once per month. To get some noticeable results you will have to practice yoga every day, but ideally you should target for 2 good sessions of at least an hour. But if you do not have enough time to be allotted for attending yoga classes, then you can do it at home as well.

3. Make yoga part of your lifestyle
Yoga should become your lifestyle. You can reap many benefits from yoga, such as weight loss, balance, strength, relieving stress and increasing your confidence and self-esteem. But if you eat something unhealthy after yoga practice, have not enough rest or miss a class, do not wait for positive changes in your physical and mental health. Many people are concerned with their weight.

Sticking to these 3 main points – selecting the right style of yoga, practising on a permanent basis and making yoga a part of your lifestyle will help you to achieve splendid results.

When it comes to practicing yoga, bear in mind that it is all about unity and learning how to attain the best control over your body and mind. Yoga will help you to develop patience and good discipline.

How To Hire a Yoga Teacher

Posted by admin On November - 11 - 20102 COMMENTS

How can you tell which Yoga teacher is best suited for your health club, ashram, spa, or wellness studio? Does it depend on a particular diploma, style of yoga, or whether it depends on who their Guru was? Let’s go over to the credential bit of history and to find the perfect yoga teacher questionnaire.
Recently there has been a scramble among the yoga teacher to get a higher power. This is understandable, because Yoga became much more mainstream pursuit. As Yoga became more and more popular, many experienced yoga teacher came “out of the loop.”
Hot Yoga: Apparently it is an obvious need and tolerance to heat – around 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Most Hot Yoga classes are based on Bikram Choudhury style of Hatha Yoga.
However, it is very unwise to copy his exact sequence of postures, because they are proprietary. Regardless of whether you think it is right or wrong to patent yoga sequence, which wants to go to court over it? It never ceases to amaze yoga teacher, when they hear about the potential to be sued. To circumvent this dilemma by teaching Hot Yoga classes can be accomplished without a legal fight.
What I see most of Hot Yoga teachers are somewhat similar to the Bikram style, but you can also see the Sun Salutations and a posture that is not seen in most Bikram studio variety. Hot Yoga classes are popular for all ages. There are a surprising number of yoga students who are outside the medieval Yoga classes.
Some people like to heat, while others simply can not adapt to these temperatures. Therefore, if you want to become a Hot Yoga instructor, make sure you are up to the task of leading a yoga class under these temperature conditions. It’s one thing to take into Hot Yoga class, but this is quite a different experience actually teach one.

Bikram yoga and the word asana

Posted by admin On November - 7 - 201015 COMMENTS

Bikram Yoga is a specific style of yoga founded by Bikram Choudhury. Otherwise known as “hot yoga”, Bikram Yoga, named after it’s founder, is fairly advanced yoga moves done in a one hundred and five degree room with humidity at fifty percent, so you will most definitely be sopping wet when leaving.

The origin of this type of yoga is spiritually derived from Hinduism and regionally from Yoga College of India. Bikram yoga consists of 26 asanas or postures and two breathing exercises.

The word asana translates to the word “seat” which refers to the spirit in relation to the divine. Asanas are intended to lead back to sitting in meditation. Asanas are meant to improve your muscle flexibility and strength.

These moves, called asanas, are supposed to be practiced together with pranayama, or slow breath work for maximum benefit. Your breaths should be through the nose, not the mouth, and should be slow, not forced, and totally natural. To receive maximum benefit from practicing asanas, all tension and tightness in the body should consciously be let go.

A glass of water before practicing asanas enhances the experience and asanas should not be done on a full stomach. The practice of Bikram yoga is meant not only to improve muscle strength and flexibility, but also to establish a balance of our physical beings in relation to the divine.

Yoga is a path to attain a balance of the body, mind and spirit. Yoga can, if done correctly, be a means to control the ongoing complaint in all of our lives, stress. Optimum health is the ultimate goal for everyone of us. Health does not just refer to our physical beings but also to our mental attitudes and spiritual growth.

There are a few tips that you need to be aware of before you begin your hot yoga practice. This type of yoga includes an extreme amount of sweating. This means that it would be best for you to wear as little clothing as possible and clothing that you would be comfortable sweating in. Also because of all this sweating, it is important to drink plenty of water before beginning your hot yoga session.

If you are searching for your hot yoga studio there are a few things that you should look for. There are many hot yoga studios that are not certified by Bikram himself. This means that they are not authentic and may not follow the proper procedures. Before you sign up for any classes, you need to ensure that the studio has been certified by Bikram. This will ensure that you are getting the proper instruction that you require.  Hot yoga is a great alternative method of healing and can help you make that healthy connection between your body, mind and soul. Yoga of all kinds can help you achieve this connection , but hot yoga does this in a more obvious and powerful way. Try out hot yoga for yourself and you will instantly feel the results of its power.

Lady Gaga In London As She Attends Yoga

Posted by admin On November - 6 - 2010Comments Off

Anyway, she’s been at it again during a recent trip to London. Wearing what can only be described as ‘big’ shoes she paid a tottering trip to Abbey Road studios. We’re not sure what to do but it could well be to ‘lay down some tracks’ for her new album ‘Born This Way’.

Then this morning Gaga paid a trip to Bikram Yoga centre in London to stretch out and exercise, this time in a shocking pink dress and white boots.

Bikram Yoga involves devotees subjecting themselves to extraordinarily high temperatures in order to push their bodies as far as possible.

Gaga is a huge fan of bikram yoga, along with fellow celebrities such as Madonna and Cameron Diaz, and is often seen fitting in a quick session before going on stage.

And the regular yoga session are just one of the ways Gaga stays in shape.

According to her choreographer, Gaga sticks to a strict diet to maintain her slimline figure.

LaurieAnn Gibson told People.com recently: ‘It’s all about salsa with grain chips, tofu, turkey slices, hummus and coconut water.’But in a tour rider released by the official X Factor magazine X, Gaga is also said to be partial to roast chicken, chocolate-covered almonds as well as ‘non-smelly, non-sweaty cheese’.

After her yoga session, Gaga returned to her hotel before getting changed into an unusual white dress, reminiscent of a nurse’s uniform, and her favourite black boots to head over to Abbey Road Studios for a recording session.

Bikram yoga doesn’t really help

Posted by admin On November - 6 - 20104 COMMENTS
Experts have said that Bikram Yoga, which is believed to help weight loss, doesn’t really work.

Star athletes, actors and everyday New Yorkers have tested the mettle of Bikram Yoga, which makes one sweat but tremendously improves mental and physical strength as well.

Many Madonna, Jennifer Aniston and now Lady Gaga, who practice the hot yoga, do it because they believe they are burning up to a thousand calories an hour.

However, fitness expert Marcia Heaner believes this is highly unlikely.

“The more dehydrated you are, the higher your heart rate goes. When you sit in a sauna your heart rate rises high, too, but it’s not because you’re burning more fat or calories. It’s because your heart is working extra hard trying to cool you off,” the New York Daily News quoted her as telling MSNBC.

“In fact, for some people, exercising in this type of environment isn’t safe. And it certainly isn’t a great way to lose weight,” Heaner added.

Tamara Kuittinen of Lenox Hill Hospital believes that it provides intense workout but one has to be very careful.

“The room is very warm and you’re hot because you’re exercising, so there is more fluid loss. You are getting an intense workout but you really need to be careful,” she said.

True exercise bulimics have an eating disorder and use exercise to the extreme to purge themselves of calories, Kuittinen explains.

“But Bikram yoga is a healthy form of exercise. Still, remember that even a healthy form of exercise can be corrupted and used in an unhealthy way,” Kuittinen concluded.
